📱Big iPhone Update Coming This Autumn - Here’s What You Actually Need to Know
Later this year, Apple is rolling out a major update to iPhones, called iOS 26. It’s the biggest visual change since 2013 - and if you’re like most of our clients, you probably dread these updates.
We get it. Apple changes how things look, moves things around, and leaves everyone wondering where basic buttons have gone. So here’s a quick guide on what to expect - and what you should actually care about for your business.
📱 It’ll Look Different (But Mostly Work the Same)
Apple is giving iPhones a new look - brighter, see-through menus, and rounded edges everywhere. You’ll notice things look shinier and more “modern”, but apps and icons are still in the same place.
Our advice: Don’t panic. It might feel unfamiliar for a day or two, but you won’t need to learn anything new.
Make it stand out
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
📞 The Phone App Is Being Rebuilt
There’s a new layout for the Phone app, with quicker access to contacts, recent calls and voicemail - all in one place. It also has a new feature called Hold Assist, which automatically stays on hold for you and tells you when someone answers.
Why it’s useful: No more sitting there listening to awful hold music for 20 minutes - a small but smart change.
💬 Messages Will Be Easier to Manage
Group chats can now have polls (great for team decisions)
You can set background colours to help tell chats apart
Junk texts from unknown numbers are now separated automatically
Why it’s useful: Less clutter, better organisation - and fewer distractions during the workday.
🌍 Built-in Live Translation
If you message someone in another language, iOS can now automatically translate what you type into theirs — and vice versa.
Why it’s useful: If you work with international suppliers or clients, this could save a lot of time and confusion.
🗺️ Apple Maps Will Learn Your Routines
Maps can now remember your usual routes (like the one with your favourite café) and offer smarter alternatives based on traffic.
Why it’s useful: Could help reduce time on the road for teams who travel to customers.
❌ Not All iPhones Will Be Supported
If you or your staff are using an iPhone XR, XS, or anything older than the iPhone 11, you won’t get this update.
That’s Apple’s way of nudging people to upgrade - but we can help you plan around it.
⚠️ Our Advice? Don’t Rush to Update
We always recommend waiting a few weeks before installing big Apple updates. Things can break or behave strangely, especially if you rely on certain apps for work.
We’ll be testing the update ourselves and will let clients know when it’s safe and stable.
